At Unity Baptist Church we believe that every life is valuable and has purpose. At our church you will notice smiles on people's faces and you may wonder, why is everyone smiling? You say to yourself, "I've lost my job, I have broken relationships in my life, and it seems like everytime I turn around there is more bad news. What reason is there to smile?" Maybe your life has fallen apart and you don't know what to do. Perhaps you have past regrets and have made mistakes you wish you could take back. At Unity Baptist Church, we can identify with you. All of us have made mistakes that we are not proud of, but Jesus, who is rich in grace and mercy, has forgiven us of our past mistakes! Because of Jesus' forgiveness, we can smile! Even though we aren't perfect, we can smile because our lives have been forever changed because we are forgiven.
You too, can experience the same joy that we have! No matter your situation and no matter where you've been or what you've done, you can find forgiveness through Jesus Christ. Here's how:
-
First, You must acknowledge your need for a Saviour. The Bible tells us that we have a big problem called sin. Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”
-
It is important to realize that our sin has an expensive price tag. Romans 6:23a says, “For the wages of sin is death…” Essentially, the price for sin is eternal death apart from God in a place called Hell. Because of our sin, none of us could ever make it into Heaven by good works alone.
-
But wait, here’s the good news – God has a plan for our sin problem! The rest of Romans 6:23 says, “…but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” and in Romans 5:8 God says, “But God commendeth His love toward us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us.”
-
Jesus Christ came to earth as God in the flesh. He lived a perfect life and then died on a cross because He loves you. On that cross, He paid for all of your sins. He took your blame! What an awesome gift!
-
John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” God, in His awesome love, came to earth to make a way for you to be forgiven of your sins and to give you eternal life!
-
Finally, you must place complete trust in Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour. Romans 10:13 says, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” and then in verse 10 of that same chapter God says, “For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” All you have to do is ask!
If you’ve never asked Jesus Christ to be your personal Saviour, you can do that right now! You can pray something like this:
“Lord Jesus, I believe that You are God, that You died for my sin, and that You rose again from the dead. I know that I am a sinner, and I ask You now to be my Saviour. I’m putting my faith in You alone, and I accept Your gift of eternal life. Thank you for You for saving me! Amen.”
If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour today, please let us know.
